First, we'd reduce our dependence on oil. Second, we'd create market incentives to invest in clean energy. And third, we'd raise much-needed revenue to shrink our budget deficit. Moonbat Matt wants higher gasoline taxes. RedStateVT responds: First, start drilling in the U.S., there is plenty of oil here. Second, there are already plenty of incentives (and subsidies) for clean energy. Third, higher taxes on gasoline will hit the working class hardest – these are the people that Matt claims to love. Fourth, American soldiers aren’t in the Middle East to steal the oil you silly man. They are there to stop the Muslims from coming to America to kill us.
The (Continuing) Education of Barack Obama
Mr. Gates made clear that the initial American troop withdrawals ordered for July by President Obama would be limited, perhaps to no more than several thousand troops. Pointedly, he told NATO that “we will not sacrifice the significant gains made to date, or the lives lost, for a political gesture.” (NYT, 3/11/11)
