Home Grown Trouble

A Senate panel voted 3-2 Thursday to support a bill that would allow the establishment of five medical-marijuana dispensaries to serve the needs of the 169 Vermonters who have registered with the state so they can use marijuana to cope with debilitating medical conditions…The bill would allow up to five compassion centers to be established, each authorized to grow and dispense marijuana. (Burlington Free Press, 3/14/2010)

Prediction? Open this can of worms and Vermont will end up like California which, as RedStateVT has noted, is dealing with a medical marijuana mess. Every stoner will seek out and find a friendly doctor to write prescriptions to help them deal with their “pain.” Using words like “debilitating” and calling the storefront dealers “compassion centers” is just trickery.

  1. No doubt that "medical marijuana" is a Trojan horse for eventual legalization...but so what? Who's afraid of Mary Jane? Sure, stoners are culturally annoying...kinda like snowboarders on the slopes....but criminalizing them never made sense to me.
