Fruity

Now, conversations among leaders in the gay, black and Latino communities have borne significant fruit: On May 19, the board of the N.A.A.C.P. voted to endorse same-sex marriage. (NYT, 6/9/2012)

Interesting, the NAACP supports gay marriage. And how do black Democrats feel about gay marriage?

...there is greater opposition among black Democrats than white Democrats. Sixty-one percent of white Democrats supported legalizing marriage for same-sex couples, compared with 36 percent of black Democrats, while 35 percent of black Democrats opposed any legal recognition, compared with 18 percent of white Democrats. (NYT, 5/19/2012)

So - just to clarify - the NAACP apparently does not speak for the 64% of black Democrats who oppose gay marriage.
