Obama is a pragmatic, left-leaning centrist, much to the consternation of many devout liberals. Americans in the middle also see this, so efforts to paint him as an extremist will always fail.....Obama is smart and articulate, which is antithetical to honesty and integrity in today’s G.O.P. Charles Blow is a Times Op-ed writer that we tend to ignore. Not today, though! 


Blow writes a periodic column, likely just after he gets his DNC e-mail with the talking points of the week. The topic is usually some variation of Republicans - Wall Street - mean - Democrats - working people - good. Needless to say, there is little deep or even nuanced thought behind it. Here Blow attempts to perpetuate the myth of "Obama the Centrist." It just doesn't fly, particularly when the lead actor has publicly stated that "there is nothing wrong with spreading the wealth around." "Obama the Socialist" just fits better with the facts. 


We also had a chuckle over the "Obama is smart and articulate" comment. If Obama were really the genius that Democrats say he is, don't you think that we would have seen his college transcripts? And articulate? Really? The YouTube compilations of Obama stuttering and stammering, absent his trusty teleprompter, belie any attempt to paint him as articulate. 


Blow also sees fit to mention the non-story of the conservative donor who decided NOT to air ads exploring Obama's connection to his radical preacher. Yes, NOT air. Oh, and Romney repudiated this effort even before it got off the ground. Yes, REPUDIATED it. That has not stopped the Democrat-controlled media from writing endless stories about what did NOT happen. 


Meanwhile the story that everyone wants to know more about goes without mention. Just what policy advice did Oprah give to Obama? And what of the rift between Oprah and Michelle? The public has a right to know!
