Detours

Slightly
...the Congressional Budget Office made a slight mistake on Obamacare. Now they tell us that it won't cost $900 billion.  It will cost $1.8 trillion! (DickMorris.com, 3/15/2012)

In a widely reported story.......what? You hadn't heard?

Swamp Thing
Leaders of the nation’s labor unions — which some experts say benefited from the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling in 2010 — said on Wednesday that the ruling needed to be overturned for the good of American democracy,

Recognizing that the court is unlikely to overturn the decision, the A.F.L.-C.I.O., the nation’s main union federation, said the United States should consider a constitutional amendment to effectively overturn Citizens United, which allowed unlimited independent campaign spending by business corporations and labor unions.

Although some union leaders say organized labor will spend $400 million this year on national, state and local campaigns, many union officials are voicing fears that billionaire donors and corporations will spend huge amounts that will swamp labor’s efforts. (NYT, 3/15/2012)

So unions object to Citizens United....because they will now be outspent.

Blanketed
As the Chinese government forges ahead on a multibillion-dollar effort to blanket the country with surveillance cameras, one American company stands to profit: Bain Capital, the private equity firm founded by Mitt Romney. (NYT, 3/15/2012)

In other business news, Democrat billionaire Jon Corzine has still not been jailed in connection with the demise of MF Global.
